Spotify commissions The Inspired Unemployed for original podcast

Former Editor & Content Director

Spotify has done an exclusive deal with Matt Ford and Jack Steele – or The Inspired Unemployed – for a new podcast.

The Inspired Unemployed Spotify Original podcast will extend the duo’s brand and is billed as honest, real and always funny.

Spotify said the podcast will give fans an insight into the challenges of feeling like a fish out of water in the world of media, and will include tongue-in-cheek skits, stupid dares and challenges, calls to best mates, and raves about what’s on their minds.

“What do you get when you take two mates from Kiama, give them over 1 million followers, a bunch of new deals, international attention, magazine covers and their own podcast? You get two hilariously confused boys still recovering from the whiplash of their own success. But, that’s what makes them so endearing,” publicity for the podcast said.

“Despite all the attention, Jack and Matt are still the cheeky, funny, down to earth best mates that met way back in Year 7. This podcast is an extension of who they are and a chance to give fans insight to the challenges of feeling like a fish out of water in the world of media… It’s ridiculous but relatable – with a few key benchmark segments that are rejigged each week, all loosely following the idea that these boys are just ‘winging it’.”

The duo said: “Most of the time, it’s just us sitting around talking about funny scenarios and then bringing them to life.

“While you can see there is a very Aussie feel to our comedy, we still think it’s relatable Humour is universal, after all.”
