Here’s cheers: Gordie Waters celebrates 10 years at KIIS

Reporter

Gordie Waters reckons he’s got the best job in the world, and feels lucky to be doing it.

Gordie this month notched up a decade on air for the KIIS Network.

He can be heard from 10am – 3pm on KIIS 106.5 in Sydney, KIIS 101.1 in Melbourne and KIIS 97.3 in Brisbane.

In a social media post, he said  “I remember being a kid, sitting at my desk at night listening to Kyle and Jackie O on the Hot 30 and thinking THAT is what I want to do with myself.”

“The first radio gig I had was Hot100 in Darwin. Day 1 sitting in that little empty office, nothing in the draws except for a few printed photos of a guy with his shirt off wearing a glittery cowboy hat. It was a young Kyle.”

“The day I got the phone call from my boss DB was honestly like winning the lottery and more. I’ve gone through a lot of life in the last 10 years, married my beautiful wifey, our cheeky kid, on air during the marriage equality vote was one highlight, spoken to amazing, funny, inspiring brilliant people across all walks of the life. The last 10 years has been a ride!”
