Hamish & Andy have again secured top spot on the latest Australian Podcast Ranker, released today by Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) in partnership with Triton Digital.

With ongoing, worldwide interest in the completion of the Mushroom murder trial and subsequent sentencing of Erin Patterson, it was another big month for news-based podcasts, with ABC News Top Stories and Sky News Australia Update both in the top five.

The ABC’s Conversations was one of the big movers for the month, up 4 places to #5.

Grant Tothill, Executive Head LiSTNR Operations and Audience, said “Hamish & Andy reaching 855,315 monthly listeners is a testament to their consistency and connection with audiences.”

Tothill says LiSTNR is also proud to have five of its locally created and represented titles in the Top 20 podcasts of the All Australian Triton Top 300, including The Imperfects, Dan Does Footy, Happy Hour with Lucy & Nikki and It’s A Lot with Abbie Chatfield.

“Our radio podcast slate continues to demonstrate strong audience engagement across both live and on-demand platforms, with Triple M Footy AFL and Triple M Rocks Footy NRL leading the way. The Rush Hour with JB & Billy jumped 18 spots to #47, while Fifi, Fev & Nick saw a standout 158% month-on-month growth, climbing 97 places to return to the Top 100. Emerging titles like Triple M’s Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus & Rosie and Lu & Jarch continue to build momentum.”

ARN’s iHeart reached 7.7 million monthly listeners, delivering more than 24 million monthly downloads.

Standout performers for iHeart include:

  • Life Uncut surged back into the Top 10, climbing 5 places to #7 overall
  • The Kyle & Jackie O Show ranked at #14 overall
  • The Daily remained a consistent presence at #15, while The Daily Aus also performed strongly at #23 overall

Corey Layton, ARN’s Head of Digital Audio, said: “This month’s results highlight the depth, diversity and strength of iHeart’s slate. From market-leading homegrown voices like Life Uncut and The Kyle & Jackie O Show to global favourites like Stuff You Should Know, we’re connecting millions of Australians to the content they love. With our Upfronts just around the corner, we’re looking forward to sharing the next evolution of our slate.”

It was a big month for SEN’s sports podcasting network, recording 4,035,870 total downloads and 840,585 unique listeners.

SEN now has 17 titles in the Top 300 Australian-made podcasts.

Craig Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of SEN, said “We’re incredibly proud to retain our position as Australia’s number one sports podcasting network. These results are a testament to the strength of our content, the talent across our shows, and the deep connection we’ve built with sports fans nationwide. To lead the Podcast Ranker for six consecutive months and represent over a quarter of all Australian-made sports podcasts is a phenomenal achievement. SEN continues to set the benchmark for sports audio in this country.”

Lizzie Young, CEO of CRA, said “The Australian Podcast Ranker doesn’t just measure audiences – it identifies the communities that directly influence consumer decisions, providing advertisers with insights to turn listeners into loyal customers.”
