Greg Allen will be honoured at a special dinner with his ACE Radio colleagues in Melbourne this week, following news of his semi-retirement.

After 17 years’ service to Gippsland’s Gold and TR FM, Greg has stepped back from writing and reading local news, handing the role to Tom English.

With 47 years in commercial radio so far, Greg recently made the decision recently to semi-retire from the newsroom in Gippsland.

After arriving back from a trip to assist new ACE Radio local journalists in Albury and Wangaratta, Greg was honoured at a presentation in Gippsland.

The TR FM and Gold team celebrated Greg’s semi-retirement presenting him with a plaque acknowledging 17 years’ service to TR FM and Gold.

The team also commissioned a special cake to celebrate the occasion which resembled a radio Greg still owns!

Throughout his 17 years in Gippsland, Greg has been an important and well-respected advocate for local news.

As Gippsland’s Gold and TR FM General Manager Mat Cummins says, “Greg has over many years, given those less fortunate a voice on our local news.”

“His dedication to the region is unrivalled and his passion to help the community inspires all of us”.

Aside from his work in the newsroom, Greg has hosted many shifts on Gippsland’s Gold including breakfast and his talents will not be lost to radio.

Whilst he won’t be heard reading the news, he will still appear on air for Melbourne’s 3MP and Sydney’s 2UE.

As well as the dinner get-together, Greg will present to ACE Radio’s local journalists at a conference this Friday.
