Gotye returns to 2SER

Staff Writer

As we all know, Melbourne singer/songwriter Gotye won a Grammy last week for his exquisite 'Somebody that I used to know', and naturally the whole world wanted a piece of him.

Following the Grammy ceremony, no radio station got as much time as Sydney community station, 2SER, who Gotye gave an hour of his time to.

Why was Gotye so generous with 2SER, and not as generous with the big commercial stations?

Well, 2SER were one of the first radio stations to play his music ten years ago when he sent the station a CD-R in the post, and he has not forgotten their early support.

At 2SER's 'In Conversation' event at the Enmore, Gotye spent an hour on the air taking questions from host, Paris Pompor, and from assorted listeners and fans.

Speaking of when he first heard his music on the radio, Gotye said;

"I remember being very excited when Richard Kingsmill played a song called 'Out here in the cold' on his show in 2003, I was downstairs working on music in my bedroom, and my friends called me upstairs and said, dude dude you're on triple j! (so) that was pretty exciting"
