From Australia to the USA: International Student Broadcasting Championship delivers the goods
The team from ISBC – the International Student Broadcasting Championship – has embarked on a whirlwind tour of the USA to hand deliver the trophies to last year’s winners.
Launched in 2023 by Perth-based company RAMP Media, ISBC is a global talent discovery and development platform.

Covering radio, broadcasting, video and digital content creation, the competition aims to find the best emerging talent, serving as a launching pad for careers within the media industry.
The championship takes a ‘quality over quantity’ approach, to showcase the very best potential within these fields.

The ISBC team landed in Las Vegas earlier this month for the NAB Show Conference.
They’ve since visited LA, Cleveland, Ithaca, Syracuse, Niagara and New York.

The team officially presented WJCU-FM 88.7 at John Carroll University with the custom-made Station of the Year trophy.
“We had some powerful workshops with WJCU-FM 88.7’s award-winning students — guiding them through a fully interactive experience on Gen Z digital consumption, podcasting from idea to ideation, and advanced post-production and distribution strategies designed to elevate their shows to the next level.”
Adding to the celebration, Michael Dylan Brennan, the Mayor of University Heights, delivered an official proclamation declaring it ‘WJCU Station of the Year Day’ across the city – a moment that captured the pride and impact of their achievement.
The gold trophy is now where it belongs, and the question remains … can WJCU go back-to-back and defend its Station of the Year title in 2025?

93.5 WVBR-FM from Cornell University was presented with its People’s Choice Station of the Year trophy.

The ISBC team also surprised triple award winner Margaret DiRoma from the University of West Georgia’s WOLFRadio, presenting her with her medals for Best New Podcast, Best Podcast Pitch and Best News Feature.

Last year, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila welcomed the founders of the International Student Broadcasting Championship – Phillip Vinciullo, Annwen Burrows and Marcel Marais (pictured above) – as part of their Asia tour.
