Doing it for Donna: Carrie Bickmore to run Great Wall of China half marathon

Reporter

This week, the Hit Network’s Carrie Bickmore will head overseas to run a half-marathon at the Great Wall of China.

Recently the Carrie & Tommy show launched a fundraiser called Doing It For Donna.

After a 7-year battle with brain cancer, Donna Nottage, at just 38 years of age, passed away in March this year leaving behind her husband Sean and two young sons.

Carrie has since announced she will be running the Great Wall Marathon with Sean to help raise $1 million – in an effort to help make sure no one loses a loved one to brain cancer again.

Donna was a great supporter of Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer foundation.

“I want to stop those families that get torn apart by brain cancer,” says Carrie. “It’s been a mission of mine for a long time. The reason I bring this is up is because I’ve been telling you for the last few months that I have been training for the Great Wall of China marathon. But the bit that I haven’t been telling you guys is I’m not just doing this for me.”

“I’m doing it for Donna. I’m doing this to raise $1 million for my brain cancer centre, so no other mums have to die of brain cancer.”

“It’s been such an honour for me to train with Sean, and the couple of others who are coming with us on the journey.”

Carrie is asking listeners to donate to The Great Wall Marathon: Doing It For Donna here.
