At Sunset win Nova’s Fresh Discovery
Adelaide pop/rock band At Sunset have been announced as the winner of Nova’s Fresh Discovery competition with Warner Music.
The national search was pitched as finding the best unsigned talent in Australia, with a brief to find cutting-edge, contemporary artists who had a vision for their music.
There were over 1500 artists who entered the competition, with At Sunset being declared the overall winner.
It isn’t the first time At Sunset have attracted commercial radio attention, they have previously received airplay on Nova, and on the Today/Hit network, although largely confined to evening rotation.
in 2014 they caught the ear of KIIS FM Los Angeles after playing the Cinco Festival in LA (below), being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, and subsequently daytime jock JJ on Z100 New York (here).
In late 2014 they were selected by KIIS Sydney to support Miley Cyrus on the iHeart Music Festival (prior to it’s cancellation), and in 2013 co-headlined the Teen Rush concert tour with Titanium.
Now, with the undoubted airplay support from Nova, the band should move to the next level in Australia.
At Sunset are an Adelaide band who formed three years ago and have established a strong presence already with over 900,000 facebook fans, 250,000 Twitter followers, and 73,000 following their Youtube channel.
David Caplice from Caplice Management said;
“What blew me away about the response to the Nova Fresh Discovery promo was the quality of talent that auditioned. Some of the video auditions were absolutely awesome and from genuine, undiscovered artists.”
Paul Jackson, NOVA Entertainment Group Program Director commented:
“We came across so many talented singer-songwriters that it was so hard to pick just one artist to win the competition. At Sunset stood out above the others with their infectious hooks and big anthemic choruses”
As part of the prize, At Sunset will be involved in a mentoring session with Ed Sheeran next week, and will receive a recording deal with Warner Music.
