ACRA nominated Handball Blitz crowns a winner

Thousands of handballs and over 240 kids later, Nova 106.9’s ‘Ash, Luttsy & Susie O’Neill’s Handball Blitz,’ has found a winner.

The ACRA nominated ‘Most Creative Station Promotion’ held its showdown on August 31 on a purpose-built handball stage set up in front of 43,000 people at Suncorp Stadium.

During the Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm halftime, southside student Jet, from Anglican Church Grammar School, won the trophy after going up against northside player Alex, from St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace.

The final match-up was the culmination of Ash, Luttsy & Susie’s long search for Brisbane’s best handballer – from March this year the trio visited 26 schools around South East Queensland.

This morning on-air, Jet said playing in front of a crowd of over 40,000 at Suncorp Stadium was an amazing experience.

As a result of the Nova 106.9 team’s effort and creativity, the ‘Handball Blitz’ promotion has been nominated for the ‘Most Creative Station Promotion’ ACRA, which will be decided in Sydney on October 14, 2023.
