Abbie Chatfield signs with SCA

Former Editor & Content Director

Abbie Chatfield has signed with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA).

The move will see her take her It’s A Lot podcast from Nova Podcasts to SCA’s LiSTNR.

In addition to It’s A Lot, which will remain on all platforms, Chatfield and SCA will co-create a new LiSTNR-exclusive podcast next year.

Chatfield is still contracted to Nova and will move across to LiSTNR from December 5.

The EP of It’s A Lot, Elise Cooper – a previous 30 Under 30 winner – will stay with Nova working on podcasts including The Space.

Chatfield rose to prominence on the 2019 season of The Bachelor but has since launched somewhat of a mini media empire with brand deals, the podcast, speaking engagements, a book deal and hosting Love Island After Party. She was crowned the winner of this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

SCA’s chief content officer, Dave Cameron, said Chatfield is fast becoming one of the country’s fiercest and most important voices for a new generation of passionate audio fans. He described her talent and star-power as “sky-high”.

“LiSTNR is determined to work alongside Australia’s brightest and best audio creators, and we’re so excited that Abbie is joining our rapidly expanding suite of premium Australian talent,” he added.

It’s A Lot surged into the top 10 podcasts in the August Podcast Ranker, following a change in measurement methodology. In September it was #13.

The podcast covers mental health, body image, sex, vaccination, entertainment and bullying, and SCA noted “Abbie’s never been afraid to call out bad behaviour or tell it like it is”.

Nova declined to comment on Chatfield’s departure.
