Sharp voices, fresh debate: news.com.au rolls out Unserious vodcast

Reporter

News.com.au has launched Unserious, a weekly vodcast featuring Deputy Editor Liz Burke, journalist Mary Madigan and Sky News host Caleb Bond, which unpacks the week’s biggest stories, smallest controversies and online debates.

The trio tackles issues affecting young Australians – from tax exemptions they’re missing out on to whether it’s okay to wear thongs to work – but don’t always take the topics (or themselves) too seriously.

Each episode draws on what’s dominating group chats and social feeds, as well as the issues keeping Gen Z up at night.

The three journalists also own up to the inconsequential things they’re taking too seriously that week.

News.com.au editor Kerry Warren said: “Young Australians are hungry for conversations that reflect their lives, but so much of what’s out there either talks down to them or ignores them altogether. We wanted to change that. Unserious gives our audience something genuinely different: real debate between sharp, contrasting voices on the issues that matter to their generation, wrapped in the kind of energy they want to watch.”

“It’s an extension of what news.com.au does best – meeting our audience where they are and giving them content worth their time.”

New episodes are released weekly and supported by editorial coverage on news.com.au.
