Triple M set to announce Mick Molloy replacement

Who is joining Eddie and Luke? Comedian Wil Anderson is hotly contested to replace Mick Molloy on Triple M Melbourne’s The Hot Breakfast, but you’ll have to wait until 8am Friday for an official confirmation.

The network released a series of audition tapes on Facebook this week in anticipation of the announcement. Even outgoing Hit Network drive hosts Hamish & Andy are among the familiar faces.

When Radio Today prodded Triple M’s head of content, Mike Fitzpatrick, on who is set to replace Molloy, he said, “Maybe I could put Hamish and Andy on with Eddie and then everyone can stop asking the question.” Ouch!

But if Radio Today‘s unofficial poll was anything to go by, former 2DayFM breakfast co-host Sam Frost was the radio industry’s top pick for the brekkie gig. You all clearly have a sense of humor.

Back in June, the news broke that Molloy is to ditch on-air pals Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy on The Hot Breakfast to make a triumphant return to his “natural habitat” on Triple M national drive with Jane Kennedy.

“I can’t wait to get back to my natural habitat on the drive shift. I imagine the show will be a lot like my usual conversations with Jane minus a couple of good bottles of vino,” Molloy said.
