Birds of Tokyo hit #1 airplay

Staff Writer

Congratulations to Perth band Birds Of Tokyo, who have cracked the most played position on the Radio Today/Aircheck airplay charts for the week ending Saturday 23 February.

Their song 'Lanterns' is currently the most played song with 716 spins on Australian radio from airplay monitoring in all monitored markets across the last 7-days.

'Lanterns' reaching #1 is particularly impressive, as it has done so by multi-format airplay.

Whilst the song is #2 on the Rock chart, behind Black Keys 'Little Black Submarines', and #5 on the CHR charts behind Macklemore, Pink, Bruno Mars and Rihanna, this breadth of appeal has given them the #1 spot.

'Lanterns' has 3,161 spins for the life of the song, and the 716 in the last week was enough to nudge out Macklemore 'Same Love' on 705 spins for the week.

Radio Today's airplay charts are updated daily on a 7-day rolling basis using data from Aircheck, the leader in broadcast monitoring. You can access the charts from our menu above under the 'airplay' tab.
