KIIS 101.1’s Jase confronts his high school bully live on air

Staff Writer

KIIS 101.1 Breakfast presenter Jase has opened up about being bullied in high school and, in an unprecedented move,  confronted his bully live on-air.

The saga began with Jase detailing his experience of being bullied in high school almost 20 years ago.

“I vividly remember a moment in year 11 when he stormed into the classroom, grabbed me by the collar pushed me down off the chair, held his fist up above me…and it was just his way of showing off in front of everyone,” Jase said.

So when his 20-year reunion rolled around, instead of internalising the experience, he used it as a healing moment by talking to his bully live on air after two decades.

After some initial awkward pleasantries, Jase’s old schoolmate was very remorseful, apologising and making amends.

“I’ll say straight up that if that was the case I definitely apologise, I never intended for that,” said the unidentified man.

The segment rounded off on a happy ending with Jase inviting the man to have a beer with him at the reunion and the pair condemning bullying.

Pulled the ‘Always Awkward’ slogan too soon!
I love listening to these two. Both ARN Melbourne brekky teams are must podcasts for me at the moment.
