K rock to host gay wedding next month
K rock Geelong will host a same-sex wedding for local couple Addam & Digby on March 3 at Leura Park Estate on the Bellarine Peninsula.
K rock said there wouldn’t be anything tacky, cheap or crass about the occasion when announced by breakfast hosts Tom & Buckle.
“It’ll be a wedding, a beautiful, intimate event where two men will celebrate their love for each other along with all of their friends and family. It will also be a statement: Equality, give the Australian people what they want.
“It’s time to give Marriage Equality a voice and show Geelong, Bellarine and The Surf Coast how much support there is for same-sex couples in our region.”
With such a short turnaround, K rock has had to recruit an army of helpers, and fortunately, they’ve had no shortage of offers from residents and local businesses who have put their hands up to participate. Overwhelmed with the support and proud to be the face of this push for marriage equality Digby said, “You should be able to stand up in front of your family and friends and make that commitment to each other.
“Hopefully, our wedding will give other same-sex couples the courage to do the same but also get the ball rolling to reignite the discussions with politicians to make a change.”
Tom Lewis continues to push for support on-air. “Why is it that the very people we put in place to do the talking for us are ignoring our call? Celebrating this couple’s special day is our way of saying love is love and enough is enough.”
The event will be for family and friends only, but everyone is invited to watch the Facebook live stream at 2pm Friday, March 3.
