Who’s in for 2Day FM breakfast for 2025?
As the metro radio markets launch into 2025, a question mark still hangs over the line-up for 2DAY FM.
Jimmy and Nath (main photo) have been looking after Breakfast since Hughesy, Ed and Erin spontaneously departed one Wednesday in early August last year. SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron seemed to suggest the boys would be staying put late last year, but it still hasn’t been confirmed.
Monday January 20 marks the start of the 2025 metro survey period and it looks like Jimmy and Nath will be back then, perhaps with an additional recruit.
SCA did announce on Monday that Nic Kelly and Loren Barry will take over nights. This could have meant that Mike E and Emma (Mike Etheridge and Emma Chow) who have worked together on air for 13 years, would return to their regular morning spot after covering nights for Jimmy and Nath, but Emma Chow said on Instagram that was not the case, and that she and Mike were no more an on-air pair. That post has subsequently been taken down.
There is speculation that Emma might join the boys on breakfast which, if true, would take some bedding in from all concerned. And where might Mike E fit? Triple M perhaps?
SCA has been contacted for comment.
Has Emma’s post been “taken down”, or was it an Instagram story, which – by design and function – disappears after 24 hours?!
Also, Dave Cameron confirmed Jimmy & Nath for 2Day Breakfast in 2025 last year to Mumbrella. He didn’t “seem to suggest it”. He flat out said it…
Hope Jimmy & Nath get it! They’ve got a great show and never stop working, they’ve earned it.
Geez, Mike E & Emma have been treated poorly by SCA. When they first moved there a few years ago (after leaving ARN during the transition from The Edge to CADA), I thought Mike E & Emma were eventually going to get a go on 2DayFM breakfast. But instead, they persisted with a fairly poor rating Hughesy, Ed & Erin “Morning Crew” for a further 2.5 years then once that show met its inevitable demise, promoted Jimmy & Nath after they had less than a full year of presenting the night shift.
One presumes yet another brekky shake-up at Triple M Sydney has ensured that J&N will still do 2DayFM brekky in 2025, however I think it’d be a major surprise if they were still on in 2026 – with or without Emma Chow. You’d hope Nic Kelly & Loren Barry might eventually get their opportunity to reinvigorate 104.1 brekky, although it probably wouldn’t surprise me if SCA were to instead give that promotion to Lucy & Nikki!
Either way, what’s with Hit Nights being such a revolving door? Just since the start of the 2020s we’ve had Ash London, Tom & Olly, Lizzy Lovette (for the about 5 minutes in 2021 that 2DayFM were allowed to have a local night show), Abbie Chatfield, Jimmy & Nath, Mike E & Emma and now Nick & Loren…along with all the survey break fill-ins.
First they have to fix station, playlist and their target… new breakfast show, new line up doesn’t fix the dead station. Playlist is the mess…are they still CHR , hot AC station??? 90s 00s? Only rebranding is the key…
Hit Sydney, Hits…?
This article says everything you need to know about the current state of content at SCA. What a shambles.
best thing they can do is give it to Jimmy & Nath, finally some good, fresh Sydney content for us to care about that isn’t old and tired…
