Trophy Wyfe wins the prize in triple j’s Unearthed High

Newcastle three-piece rockers Trophy Wyfe have just been named triple j‘s Unearthed High Winners for 2026.

Concetta & Luka from triple j Breakfast, Concetta’s last one before she departs the js later this month, pulled off the ultimate surprise, crashing Trophy Wyfe’s school assembly and joining the band just as they finished performed their winning track ‘Spiders’.

Trophy Wyfe now look ahead to what comes next, with a debut album release at the end of the year.

Unearthed High had over 1000 entries from high school-aged artists across the country which were whittled down to just five finalists – Trophy Wyfe, Alli Kate, Lithu, TwoSeventy and Zoevi.

TooLa, the moniker of 16-year-old Biripi student Tyler Saunders won this year’s Indigenous Initiative with his self-produced trap hybrid ‘Float’. He gets his next track mixed by Eric J Dubowsky, an award-winning producer and engineer known for his work with artists like Flume, Chet Faker and Tame Impala.

Previous Unearthed High finalists and winners include Genesis Owusu, The Kid LAROI, Ninajirachi, Gretta Ray, Hockey Dad, Mariae Cassandra and many more. In a full circle moment, Trophy Wyfe also chose Genesis Owusu as their Unearthed High prize mentor and will soon be together in the studio for a special songwriting session.

triple j Unearthed thanks every winner, finalist and artist who entered this year’s competition.
