Triple M’s Tom & Olly jump to Hit Network Mid-Dawns

Former Assistant Editor

Tom & Olly are leaving Triple M, jumping across to the Hit Network.

The duo has been on Triple M Weeknights for the past two years, but they’ll now be heard on Mid-Dawns (1am-5am) on the Hit National Network.

The slot hasn’t had a permanent host since the Danny Lakey was tapped to replace Ash London on Hit Nights last year.

Tom & Olly will finish up at Triple M this Wednesday.

“Hits time for a change!” said the boys on Instagram. “We’re trading AC/DC for Ariana Grande and heading to the Hit Network across the country!”

Hits time for a change! We’re trading AC/DC for Ariana Grande and heading to the @hitnetworkaus across the country! “What time are you on?” I hear you ask…The answer 1am-5am…coz sleep when you’re dead amirite?! Our last show is this Wednesday!

“Tom & Olly are one of my favourite shows on air, anywhere in the world,” EP Tom Martin told Radio Today.

“They genuinely care about creativity, the audience experience, and the people around them.

“They’ve introduced a tone and discussion to Triple M which otherwise may not have been there, and the network is better for it. It’s been a privilege to be able to be a part of the show.”

It’s been a swift rise for the talented duo who started out at SYN Media before cutting their radio teeth hosting breakfast on Star FM Albury-Wodonga (now Hit104.9).

Radio Today spoke with Tom & Olly last year about the challenges of developing a male duo show in the post-Hamish & Andy radio landscape and winning over middle-aged men who dominate Triple M’s audience.

Worked for Danny Lakey @david.

These guys are stars. Incredibly talented and are destined for great things. I can’t wait to see what they do next.

They are a bit young for 2DAYFM and FOXFM would be better on Nova.

This is sad. I loved listening to these two when driving home from work.
So, what happens now Triple M? Does this mean local jocks from 7-10pm??
Or a return to the cold 30?

It’s a shame Triple M are letting these guys go, especiallly to a Mid-Dawn shift.
I enjoyed these guys, so what happens now?
Do we now get local jocks at night or back to the cold 30?
