Triple M welcomes Stevie J to its AFL commentary line up for 2023

With the start of the 2023 AFL season just a week away, Triple M has welcomed Steve ‘Stevie J’ Johnson to the roll call.

Johnson brings some stellar AFL pedigree to the commentary line up.

Known for his freakish ability on the field, the former Geelong and Giants star and three-time All Australian player now finds a new home behind the microphone on Triple M.

Stevie J will sit alongside returning legends, players and experts of the game including James Brayshaw, Dale Thomas, Billy Brownless, Abbey Holmes, Nathan Brown, Leigh Montagna, Xavier Ellis, Bernie Vince, Jason Dunstall, Brian Taylor, Kate McCarthy, Luke Darcy, Damian Barrett and Ross Lyon, to name a few.

Head of Sports Content – On-Air and On Demand, Ewan Giles, says “We are blessed with the calibre of talent on Triple M Footy, and it’s great have some fresh voices to our call such as Steve Johnson. I’m sure Stevie will bring as much excitement to the calls as he did to the Geelong forward line during their golden run.”

The 2023 Triple M footy season is ready to fly after SCA and the AFL announced an extension to their long-standing partnership for Audio Broadcast Rights and a multi-year podcast co-collaboration agreement to develop audio on demand concepts for the league.

Calling every game, footy fans are set to be entertained throughout the entire season across Triple M and LiSTNR with live streaming available right up to the last quarter of Grand Final on Saturday, 30 September.

SCA’s footy commitment extends across the Triple M Network with The Rush Hour Drive shows, The Midweek Rub, The Friday Huddle, The Saturday Rub, The Sunday Rub and Dead Set Legends.

Adding to the footy content is the newly announced  Footy Talk – Daily Australian Rules Podcast, due to launch shortly on LiSTNR.

The footy talk Podcast has been running since Feb 27, so not ‘launching shortly’ as so vaguely plonked at the end of the article.
