Triple M’s footy coverage has been kicking goals during the pointy end of the season.

The station recorded the largest commercial AFL and NRL metro footy audience, according to the GfK Survey 5 radio ratings results.

It scored No.1 share of people 10+ during the season.

Triple M’s AFL coverage and commentary across Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth reported a cumulative audience of 626,000, while Triple M’s NRL coverage and commentary has an audience of 471,000 across Sydney and Brisbane.

Triple M has hailed its new all-local Rush Hour Drive shows across Australia this year a success, reaching 868,000 people 10+ each week Mon-Fri 4-6pm.

SCA’s Head of Sports Content Ewan Giles says “Triple M’s footy coverage and sports shows continue to dominate adult listeners, with almost 50% more audience compared to the closest commercial competitor.”

SCA Chief Content Officer Dave Cameron says “We have a revered heritage of delivering the best footy coverage and commentary in the country and the ratings results demonstrate that formula is continuing to attract audiences.”

“Those audiences come to Triple M via our radio stations and DAB+ but also via LiSTNR, with Triple M Footy AFL the ninth most popular podcast in the country and the number one sports podcast. Rush Hour with JB and Billy and The Howie Games are also among Australia’s top 20 podcasts.”
