triple j to air second Hottest 100

To extend the popularity of triple j's Hottest 100, this weekend they will play what came in 200 to 101.

It will kick off at 10am AEDST on Saturday then on Sunday triple j will replay 100 to 1.

A story in the Sydney Morning Herald today also says the ABC may make changes to its voting system for the Hottest 100 after a marketing expert used social media to predict most of the chart.

Nick Drewe and friend Tom Knox analysed about 35,000 Hottest 100 votes sent to triple j via social media and then published their own chart, the Warmest 100 (see it here).

They accurately forecast 92 of the 100 songs, including all of the songs in the top 10, with 5 in the correct spot.

The ABC said:

"With 51 per cent of voters posting their results on social media platforms, it resulted in a huge number of people talking about the Hottest 100 online. That interaction drove the greatest number of votes yet.

"While it does open up the poll to speculation and analysis, there are always going to be surprises and a lot of fun on the day.

"We may make a few changes to the system to avoid spoiler attempts in the future though."

Betting on the Hottest 100 was stopped last week due to fears punters would use the information from the Warmest 100 to lay large wagers.
