Tamihere to sue MediaWorks, The Edge say bye to drive duo

Staff Writer

In November, NZ RadioLive hosts Willie Jackson and co-host John Tamihere (right) found themselves in hot water and needing to apologise over an interview they conducted with a friend of an alleged victim of the Roast Busters group.

Audio of the interview and more about the apology is here.

After an online campaign, many advertisers of the MediaWorks station suspended their campaigns and the duo ended their year early, soon after the controversy erupted.

Last week it was announced that Jackson would be returning in 2014 with a new co-host, Ali Mau, but Tamihere would not be having his contract renewed.

Tamihere is now threatening legal action against MediaWorks.

He has told Radio Waatea,"I'm telling you this morning I will be litigating again with MediaWorks very shortly so you can read all the salacious bits in the affidavits and in the emails, but whenever I go anywhere I will go on my own terms, won't go on anyone else's terms."

Meanwhile, tomorrow The Edge say farewell to their drive show Fletch & Vaughan (below). The duo were poached mid-year to leave MediaWorks and host a yet to be announced show on one of TRN's recently refreshed brands. They will start in their new role early in the new year.
