Sea FM axes brekky jock

Staff Writer

Sea FM Gold Coast has axed brekky anchor Simon Baggs, advising him that his contract would not be renewed at the end of this year.

'Baggs' has been with Sea FM for 4-years. Content Director Andrew Very confirmed the news today telling the Gold Coast Bulletin;

"I can confirm that we have decided not to renew Baggs' contract"

Very said that Baggs handled the decision with class and said the door remained open for him to move to another role within the network.

Baggs has told the Gold Coast Bulletin….

"At the end of the day this is show business and I've chosen to be in that business. Naturally it was a bit of a shock, but I'm proud of Sea — I love the place and I love the Gold Coast."

"It's sad for Galey and I. We've been mates for 12 years. It's like a break-up but these things happen."

"I started there when I was 16. I don't think there's a shift I haven't done. I'm happy with how I performed and I still have fond memories for the place."

Very has said that the station is "looking at giving the show a new feel"

Baggs' last show will apparently be on November 16.
