SCA launches hunt for producer cadetship
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) is seeking a recent graduate or someone looking to move into radio, with a 12-month producer cadetship.
The cadetship has a maximum term of 12 months, and involves working from 7pm to midnight on Monday to Thursday, and 6am to 10am on Saturdays. SCA said the hours will appeal to someone who is naturally a night owl, but can pivot to early morning starts.
The role will involve working on SCA’s weeknight program Tom & Olly (10pm – 1am), as well as the national Weekend Breakfast show, hosted by Dylan Alcott, Angus O’Loughlin and former Hit 92.9 Perth Breakfast host, Juelz Jarry.
SCA said the successful applicants need to be able to multitask, work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure. They also need to possess first-class verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in social media platforms, and be connected to pop culture and current affairs.
Applicants need to send in a resume and address the selection criteria in a 60 to 90-second video.

“naturally a night owl, but can pivot to early morning starts”
And if you do a poor job, that is totally fine because at SCA we believe people’s feelings are much more important than results
That is why most of our announcers rate poorly.
If you the only producer of nights does that mean you’re EP but paid as an intern?
What’s the bet that this WON’T be a position filled by one of the many talented announcers that SCA canned last year? The company doing everything in it’s power to fill the roles cheaply, and then get upset when the job isn’t done well…
Who is keen on getting paid nothing for heaps of work?
@No Thanks – I would have jumped at an opportunity like this when starting out. What a great first gig for the resume.
Now that job keeper is ending we need another way to get people to work at zero cost to the business. Let’s get an intern!
Crap hours and no pay. SCA now lower then Caralis.
