Big wins for Mix 106.3 and AmplifyCBR in Survey 3
Mix 106.3 was well ahead in GfK Radio Survey 3, 2024, leading comfortably in every day part, except evenings, but including weekends. They have a more than 30% audience share in the 10-17 and 55-64 age group which shows the breadth of the station’s appeal.
There were also positives for other stations. While Kristen and Nige on Mix breakfast increased their listenership the most (up 4.3 to 21.1 and back to where they were at the start of this year), the new this year pairing of Wilko and Courts (main picture), AmplifyCBR stablemates of Mix, have bedded in and increased their audience to 14.5, relegating Adam Shirley at ABC Canberra to third. 2CC‘s Stephen Cenatiempo also was up 2.0 to 5.2.
Hit and Mix are joint owned by ARN and SCA, with Hit leading in listening for 18-39s. The only demographic not owned by Hit or Mix is over 65s who prefer to listen to ABC Classic.
2CC and 2CA saw overall gains, the biggest for both in afternoons, but there was no catching Pat Griffin (pictured above), Mix 106.3 afternoon announcer and music director. He was up the most of anyone across the day and weekend, up 6.8 to a 27.3 audience share. The Raiders on Mix on the weekends across the NRL season fared well too, Mix weekends were up 3.6 to 20.1.
Cumulative listening was up for all except ABC stations. Hoping to see DAB+ listening included in future surveys as Canberra has now a vastly expanded offering available including Mix breakfast’s Nigel Johnson getting his own to curate, simply called Nige!

Looks like it was the right show to put in 104 breakfast.
A lot of haters will have to eat their words going off the last survey comments.
Not really though. 104 breakfast’s cume listenership has been down all year compared to a 2023 and continues to be. Less number of people listen to the new 104 breakfast. That’s just a fact.
I would say it takes a beat to lose the audience (cume) that the station doesn’t need – to build the audience it does. The previous show had what 4-5 years to build that cume?
I guess in a few more books we’ll see if who is correct.
I just don’t know if it’s ‘eating words’ time.
104 had a 80k 18-39 cume this time last year. It has a 65k cume in the same demo now. I would say that’s audience they probably want, if not need.
I would say the real focus of CBR is Mix Brekky though. That thing is a powerhouse and has been for a long time.
