Nova Drive and Nights – 5th in both Syd and Melb markets.

Most uninspiring stations on radio – thank god for the show that kiis built, otherwise the whole lineup on both stations would be crusty

Well, “Chuck Tuna” can’t say that nothing ever changes in Sydney this time…

In the battle of Sydney’s adult FM music stations, it’s pretty obvious to me that Smooth has the edge on weeknights and over the weekends while the genuine personality of WSFM is the winner at breakfast and during weekdays. Now if one of those two could get it right across the board, we’d likely be talking about an overall #1 rating station.

Either way, it’s now quite obvious why Smooth’s bizarre “Together In Music” TVC has been doing the rounds again!

Also seems like coverage of a certain sporting event in France wasn’t a winner for 2GB, but I think one really needs to look elsewhere to figure out why Drive (which AFAIK, went to air mostly as usual during the games) dropped below 6%! Maybe Nine will have to run another ad campaign and/or on-air competition soon, who knows.

The jury’s still out on Jimmy & Nath for 2DayFM breakfast (being on-air for only half of Survey #6), but it won’t surprise me if they’re not on-air next year and 104.1 is relaunched as a totally new station – just as it should’ve been years ago IMO. Thought probably also needs to be given towards a reset of Triple M in at least Sydney & Melbourne.

Good to see that Kyle & Jackie O is being rejected by Melbournians, although I’m not sure if I’ll ever understand it’s appeal to Sydneysiders. At least Jonesy & Amanda (who seemed to score their best ratings in six years, along with WSFM at large) can be genuinely funny sometimes.

The biggest unsurprise: Disrupt Radio being “withdrawn from survey” – can’t expect them to pay GfK for survey inclusion when according to recent news reports, staff are apparently owed two months’ worth of salary!

We told you months and months ago, Sydney FM breakfast (and Sydney centric personalities) networked into Melbourne does not and never will work.

Yet, we heard all the fanboys on here in and in the podcasts proclaiming ‘it will be different with Kyle and Jackie O’.

As the saying goes, “those who fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it”.

K&J COULD turn around woef figures in Melbourne with absolute acceptance that they are – in the Melbourne market – a brand new show, which means they do not have the luxury of familiarity as they do in Sydney. This will require them to shift their priority to encouraging/allowing the Melbourne audience to warm to them. First step will require great attention to the content and overall “vibe” of the show. However, therein lies the danger of losing share in Sydney, and K & J ACCEPTING that these things need to be done. I don’t think they are willing to do any of those things, sadly. And that’s the frustrating part, as Kyle and Jackie are top line operators – more than capable of delivering unbeatable, compelling content! 2025 will be, I believe, absolutely IMPERATIVE for their goal of going national. We can only wait and see!!

I reckon there’s enough momentum that 4bh may take #2 spot by years end.
I do hope ace have a contingency plan incase 9 get jealous, they are only leasing the licence.

Nova Drive and Nights – 5th in both Syd and Melb markets. Really, thats awful , the only two markets that count.

Did I read correctly Nova Drive and Nights are Number 5. Very disappointing after all the hype. Smallst is claiming Number One so I dont get it.

Think the shift times are adjusted so Nova claims to win but reality is Drive and Nights is number 5 overall. So much ratings hype, the industry should get it together and networks should not be able to make false claims.
