Gee nothing much changes in Sydney re figures all pretty much the same as the last few years
Gee, Chuck Tuna’s comments don’t really change. What’s the bet this commenter will make a “Gee, nothing much changes in Sydney” post on this website after the next survey? And the one after that? And…I think you get the idea.
Aside from that observation though, it’s interesting how the coverage from Paris didn’t really do much for Nine Radio – 2GB’s ratings even went down!
Kyle & Jackie O went up in Sydney (still think they may have outrated Fordham for the last time though), however it’s a long way to the top for them in Melbourne.
Interestingly, Smooth 95.3 seems to have lost some ground despite Amanda Keller being absent from WSFM breakfast for almost a fortnight towards the end of Survey #5. Could broader Sydney finally be tiring of the sing-song talk breaks and odd music choices on 95.3 which have irritated me personally for some time now?
It’s also surprising that 2DayFM’s audience share went up at breakfast & overall this survey, I was fully expecting 2UE (who in fairness have improved, but still aren’t back to their 5%-range figures received earlier this year when WS were in a lull) to beat poor old 104.1 at brekky and overall this time around.
Far less surprising though is the fact Disrupt Radio is being mostly ignored by listeners, surely these guys won’t last another 12 months?
4bh is doing well for an am music station.
Up 1.4 to taste higher than kiss again.
The commercial FM, s lost 1.9 total with many heading to 4bh.
Ace might want to consider buying the licence from nine, as it’s currently leased.
4bc is less than ½ of 4bh. Not something nine would’ve expected considering 4bh was 0,7 when nine took over initially.
WS, Smooth, KIIS 10+ share is equal or more these SCA Sydney combined. 2day + Triple M now doing just 9.5 share 10+
The current management have been in place for 5 years and no improvement in Sydney, in fact it’s gone backwards. How long does it take ? Two, maybe three years?
So the only commercial FM station K&J beat in Melbourne was Triple M, the one that didn’t actually have a breakfast show. Way to go.
nothing changes at 6pr
never gets any better .
@Matt It’s probably a good thing that Nine provide ownership and perhaps news service security, but otherwise leave ACE Radio alone when it comes to most day-to-day operations at 2UE, Magic 1278 & 4BH.
During the two or so years Nine were operating the music stations, there was only a networked (or voicetracked with the same announcer/s across all three markets) brekky show, Ray Hadley’s Country Music Countdown and the exact same News, Traffic, Sport & Weather themes as the talk stations.
At least now there’s a bit more dedicated local programming, even if it’s voice tracked outside of weekday breakfast and (in 2UE’s case at least) mornings.
Besides, I don’t think a relaunched 4BH really came into its own ratings wise until the demise of 4KQ when ACE sensibly repositioned ‘BH as a Classic Hits station.
Similarly, 2UE was slowly becoming Sydney’s new AM music station after 2CH was taken over by SEN and moved to DAB+ only in favour of sport on 1170. However, 954AM and stereo DAB+ didn’t truly rise to a ratings status comparable to the final years of 2CH on 1170 until ACE relaunched 2UE with the “Easy Music” format and SEN inevitably pulled the pin on 2CH DAB+.
