More radio jobs set to move offshore

More Australian radio jobs are set to move overseas, with well-placed sources telling Radio Today that NOVA Entertainment has advised staff it will be moving its traffic/scheduling offshore, along with two other departments.
It’s understood staff in the affected departments were notified at a meeting this afternoon.
As yet there’s no official confirmation. NOVA Entertainment has been contacted for comment.
It comes less than two years after radio traffic jobs at SCA were moved offshore, as the company switched to a hybrid operating model.
Thank you Super Radio for being the last bastion of hope!
Genuinely think there should be an offshoring tax.
You want profit from this country but don’t want to generate the income here? By all means, but you’re going to contribute.

As an ex-Nova employee, this is stunning news. Why anyone would think this is a good measure is beyond belief. Airtime were always burning the candle at both ends, lots putting in hard yards.
To remove a whole unit for an offshore replacement is downright poor form.
@Reece Witherspoonman: Yeah…I personally wouldn’t be saying that the Super Radio Network is currently in the best of health, based on the fact they’ve run automated music in lieu of Talk Overnight in recent days! Mind you, these music shifts are sadly an improvement on the mostly low-quality talk programming 2SM/2HD and its ilk usually have on.
Anyway, can someone remind me again if ARN moved their traffic/scheduling offshore yet?
Let’s hope the right level of thinking has gone into this, the history in the radio industry around these things is not great.
Makes sense really. Within this region, there’s millions of qualified, diligent and capable people who speak English and who are cheaper than having local staff. Most of the admin jobs should go overseas as well. Australian law firms and accounting firms have been using overseas secretarial services for decades.
Having worked in sales I’d like to see what happens on a Friday afternoon at 4.00pm when HN, LD or an Agency have sent their creative through and it must go to air first thing, the next day. (just saying with time differences incl)
I think it started at Nova with overnights who the f#$k wants to listen to best of breaky shows overnight from other areas. The music playlist from the day a bit extra would be better and I’m sure there is software for that….
