Tasmania’s WayFM celebrates 40 years on air
Community-based Christian radio station WayFM has wrapped up a weekend of celebrations to mark 40 years of serving Greater Launceston and Northern Tasmania.
Volunteers – past and present – joined staff, listeners, supporters and friends of the station for a party hosted by the Blackstone Christian Centre.
Guests in attendance included Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood, local MP Michael Ferguson, Chris Ball from City Park Radio and David Wood from ultra106five.
Also there were former General Managers, board members and one of WayFM’s founding members, Colin Ferguson.

WayFM General Manager Glenn Hartas said “A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the celebration possible: my wonderful wife, Bronwen; our amazing Administration Manager, Aileen Harrison; our Technical Manager, Nick Roach, for producing a fantastic presentation; Jan McKay for her countless hours of preparation; Michael Conlon for helping promote the event; Kim from Made From Scratch TAS for the beautiful cake and cupcakes; and Blackstone Christian Centre for so generously hosting us.”
“Most importantly, thank you to every volunteer who has served, every listener who has tuned in, every person who has donated, every business that has sponsored us, and everyone who has faithfully prayed for WayFM over the past 40 years. Your generosity, encouragement and faithfulness have made this ministry possible.”
