SCA confirms hybrid onshore/offshore model for its Radio Traffic services team
Reporter
SCA has confirmed that changes are being made to its Radio Traffic services team.
Staff have been notified that a number of roles are moving offshore as the company adopts a hybrid operating model across both Australia and the Philippines.
An SCA spokesperson said “SCA is focused on driving revenue performance in tandem with an ‘always on’ approach to cost management and confirms that it has commenced the process of making changes to its Radio Traffic services team.”
“A hybrid onshore/offshore operating model across Australia and the Philippines is being adopted that maintains a substantial onshore SCA team presence.”
SCA says it is successfully working through redeployment for several impacted team members.
How embarrassing for our industry that management care so little for their own people.
Absolute shame on you SCA decision makers. Cut from the top rather than the people trying to support their families. You are a disgrace.
They’re broke.
Share price is woeful.
How much longer do they have?
People are our power lol
We are better together haha
SCA new corporate values didn’t age well.
Well.. they might as well remove “We’re better together” from the SCA values and replace it with “We’re better outsourced”
I feel sorry for the people that are still there
It cant be good for their mental health in that everytime they call a meeting you panic and think its your turn to be boned
At least they are living up to the acronym “Sack ***** Annually”
Truly disgusting actions here. Should be ashamed of themselves
This is the first time that I thought that radio is its own worst enemy. It makes me very angry.
We’re quickly losing sight of why radio was so powerful in its heyday. Management are chopping out bits of the body to feed the machine. It might be traffic and then admin, then sales. I don’t know, it’s a slippery slope.
Great news. Thanks SCA, where can I send my aircheck?
Looks like its going to be thaistereo!
They should be ashamed.
Because cutting some of the overpaid metro talent that absolutely never rate would be too much of an ask yeah?
Someone should do an audit on SCA’s values.
1. People are our power.
– “people” refers to “shareholders.”
2. We push doors open
– anyone who has worked there knows this is false
3. We’re better together
– but if you ask for what is fair we don’t want you any more
4. Be genuine
– lol
5. Always curious
– curious about how we can make more money and lay off more staff, but its just business
Sad that everyone who works there leaves with a bad taste in their mouth. People power, as long as you’re a shareholder!
Replacing underpaid people with a cheaper alternative overseas – way to go….
I’ve rebranded Sca’s 5 values to better suit their current approach to employees and support:
People “in the phillipines” Are Our Power
Always Curious “About who we will fire next”
We’re Better “If you’re all fired” Together
Be Genuine “ly scared for your job security”
We Push “the exit doors” Open “as we fire you”
SCA = Skimp Cut Abolish.
At what stage do the people at the top stop telling staff in VCs and in person roadshows that it is “business as usual” and start being honest?
You have got rid of hard working admin / reception staff, announcers and shows rating higher than you dreamed of and a whole traffic hub at the start of October…. the toll on remaining staff is awful who are left to pick up the pieces.
If any one of the SCA execs or JK himself reads this, I encourage you to talk to those who you have made redundant in regional markets and listen to what they have to say. As someone who was made redundant by SCA a few months ago, I would welcome the conversation.
Forget the on air talent, maybe they should focus on the executives making these woeful decisions. They’ve gotten rid of every single programmer with a brain and experience and left the people who just say “yes”.
These latest triple mmm program axings, content director redundancies and now moving scheduling off shore are embarrassing, even for them.
You cannot cut your way to success. 2 major markets without breakfast shows in November? Lucky shareholders.
Maybe just have Byron Cooke pump his whole show in from the Middle East?
Hope the current team, who ever is left, takes some action. Wasn’t the motto ‘Proudly national and fiercely local’… except when it comes to employing people.
Why would they do that tho “upset”? Serious question.. what impact would that have?
Genuine question.
I was working on a #1 show regionally for this network and was shoved out via a phone call – not able to come in and save my work, or say goodbye to friends.

Time to join a union.
Next thing SCA will use an Indian call centre for sales calls.
This is obscene SCA.
