Much-loved Brisbane broadcaster Robin Bailey has resigned from her breakfast radio post.

Radio Today understands that Bailey intends to finish at Triple M Brisbane next Friday and spend more time with her family and husband Sean Pickwell, who was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2017.

Talking to The Sunday Mail, Bailey says she holds hope for a “miracle”.

“This last week was tough and I thought ‘nope, that was it’,” she said.

“I hope this is a miracle and he [Sean] is here next year, but I need to spend time with my husband and not feel bad about the juggle.”

After losing her first husband in 2014, her relationship with Pickwell was rocked by the diagnosis.

Pickwell is a former Southern Cross Austereo executive turned brand consultant, through his agency Waterfront.

Bailey announced her engagement to Pickwell in July 2018, and the pair officially tied the knot four months later in November.

The wedding took place at Newrybar Hall in Nothern NSW just a few short months after Sean proposed at Movie World, with her three sons and Sean’s son and daughter in tow.

After a ten-year run and many survey wins, Bailey left 97.3FM in November 2016 after a shock ousting by Australian Radio Network.

Three weeks later it was confirmed she would join Triple M Brisbane Breakfast in 2017.

In the latest radio ratings, The Big Breakfast with Marto, Robin & Nick Cody was the #2 brekkie show with 11.2%.

I’m not sure of the full details, but what employer would accept a resignation under these circumstances? surely they could come to some arrangement to keep Robyn on the books?

I was never a big Robin fan before Triple M but she has definitely improved Marto’s breakfast show. I hope she can return at a later date. The show will certainly be poorer without her.

Very sad. Sean is one of radio’s best. And Robin one of our finest. Wishing them both all the best.

I think the choice of margaux as replacement for Robin Bailey is a mistake. She is poorly read and will not be a good foil for Martins increasingly right wing positions on matters. Perhaps its a reflection of the audience. Robin at least has a wide world view and will be missed. I hope she gets her miracle.

Have been away and tuned into the mmm breakfast show to find Robin no longer on air. She was the reason I listened and I loved her honest approach and daily interesting contributions. You have made the correct choice to be with your husband and family. I will miss hearing you in the morning. I Will need to find an alternative as Margo doesn’t work for me.
