Great local content from 4TO’s Pricey
Few announcers in Australia fit the criteria of 'marrying a market' like Steve Price at 4TO-FM in Townsville. 'Pricey' has been in the market for many years – or as he puts it, many mango seasons.
Now, in typical Pricey fashion, he has spent the past month spearheading an on-air campaign on 4TO-FM to have a major Townsville road renamed 'V8 Street' for the duration of the annual V8 race.
"What better way for the Council to show that they’re behind the event than to have our very own V8 Street for the week of the race,” said Pricey;
“It’s great to have the event here in paradise, and we definitely want to let the V8 Supercars and the State Government know that this event is ours and it’s here to stay.”
The V8 race is on this weekend in Townsville, and Pricey solicited listeners to sign a petition for Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill, who was obviously a supporter saying; "It (is) a great little campaign to attract those from outside the region".
The great news is that the campaign has been successful and council have agreed to rename Eighth Street as V8 Street for the duration of the race.
The official announcement will be made at broadcast tomorrow morning with James Courtney, Garth Tander, the Townsville City Councillors, and of course a number of V8 grid girls.
4TO-FM Content Director Blair Woodcock commented; "We’ve been pushing this idea for a month now, and it’s great to see the Townsville City Council right behind it – and it’s great to think that we’ll now have street named after the Sucrogen Townsville 400 – the event that stops the town!"
Pricey said; "The lovely people of Eighth Street won't mind an extra V in their name for a week, and it's not going to confuse our terrific posties,V8 Street has a great ring to it".
A fantastic piece of local content from one of the best announcers in the game.
