Prank on Fitzy & Wippa revealed on Jimmy Fallon

During an interview with Late Night host Jimmy Fallon this week, Star Trek star Zachary Quinto revealed how he pranked Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa.

Quinto, and co-star Chris Pine, were challenged to use as many obscure words as possible in their press interviews.

“JJ (Abrams) actually had this idea that they would create a vocabulary list every day that we were doing press and there were 50 ridiculous words on the list and the goal was to use all of them in your press interviews."

Quinto then played video of him using words like superfluous, recalcitrant, propinquity, milieu, demulcent, and pyrrhic in his chat with Fitzy & Wippa.

“These two dudes were like ‘what the hell is going on’,” Quinto said. “Our publicist was sitting off in the corner literally keeping score.”

When it came to their attention, Fitzy & Wippa said:

“We thought it was a little bit weird (at the time). There was a whole lot of words we didn’t understand and we were a bit suss there might have been a game going on."

“We were giving the publicist death stares because she kept sniggering through the interview.”
