Paul Jackson quits Nova Entertainment

NOVA Entertainment has confirmed the resignation of Paul Jackson from his role as Chief Programming & Music Content Officer. Jackson informed the company’s Board of his intention to step down last week having led NOVA’s Programming function for almost twelve years.

Paul Jackson joined NOVA Entertainment (then DMG Radio) in November 2010. In this time, the Nova Network has consistently been the country’s #1 Metro FM network and smoothfm, having recently celebrated its 10th birthday, now reaches over 2.6 million people across Australia.

On his decision to step down, Jackson said “I’m immensely proud of what we have achieved during my twelve years at NOVA. It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to do so many amazing things, surrounded by such a fantastic team of people. I am excited for the future as I start my own international radio consultancy and I am also keen to pursue some other unique and innovative business ideas that I have been developing.”

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said, “For twelve years Paul has led our Programming function, over what has been an incredibly successful period for the business. We thank Paul for all he has done and all of us at NOVA Entertainment wish him all the best for his next endeavours.”

Following the recent announcements around NOVA Entertainment’s senior Programming team, Peter Clay, Ben Latimer and Brendan Taylor will now report to NOVA’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Charlton.

What weird timing! I wish you all the success I’ve had in the industry since we worked together Paul. Hopefully there’s another country out there somewhere that’s never heard of you or your father.

Some others in the industry should be nervous… very nervous. We are speaking up. It’s only the beginning. It’s time for change!

Well does it?

Does this address the root of many comments published here alluding to a problem yet never disclosing exactly what?

Any staff past and present going to take action or still frightened of repercussions?

Sorry? Maybe now he has gone and the spin is not needed, we could report the truth in ratings. Nova isn’t the number one network and has not been for YEARS.

This persons legacy is not what he says he achieved while working at Nova. It’s not the ratings or the music strategy or the line ups. He will forever be remembered for other reasons. And this is for those that can’t get those reasons out of their heads

The worst boss and worst leader Nova has ever had. In my opinion he was a disgrace to an excellent brand. Good riddance

As a former Nova employee this is about time. A terrible leader who kept Nova Sydney and Melbourne in the middle of the pack with lazy programming despite many of his more talented programming team being ousted over the years.

    For legal reasons we have been checking some comments with our lawyers before publishing them.

Surely there are more than four comments on this story? RadioToday censoring them?

    Not censoring, but checking for legal reasons. Some comments have not been published, others have now been published after checking.

@Censored.

Do a bit of study about defamation law then rethink what you are asking of a publisher.
