News headlines delivered through the eyes of a mum: Kerrie & Jenna launch The Motherload
Be it good or bad, every news headline we hear shapes the world our kids are growing up in.
But for parents trying to keep up with the news, it can feel overwhelming, and often, there’s no time to sit down and watch, read or listen.
Enter The Motherload, a weekly news bulletin hosted by Adelaide radio journalists Kerrie Turner and Jenna Yates.
Delivered in under four minutes, it cuts through the noise with context to deliver the stories parents need to be across.
It’s news with a difference: every story is seen through the lens of motherhood.
“News hits different as a mum. We don’t just watch it or hear it. We feel it,” says Kerrie. “Every story affects the world our kids are growing up in. With The Motherload, we keep parents across the big headlines quickly, without sacrificing context or care.”
The Motherload brings listeners a mix of insight, empathy, and practical takeaways — all grounded in the hosts’ decades of experience in radio journalism.
Jenna says “We’re leaning into what we know best. This isn’t just news. It’s news as a mother sees it — stories that matter to families, delivered in a way that fits into the busiest of schedules.”
Kerrie and Jenna first met in a radio newsroom in 2015 when Jenna covered Kerrie’s maternity leave.
One night over a glass of bubbles, the idea for a podcast was hatched, inspired by their own transitions into motherhood and the desire to connect with other mums and let them know they’re not alone.
The result was How Motherhood Changed Me, a podcast which explores the realities of modern motherhood.
Now, through The Motherload, Kerrie and Jenna bring listeners a mix of insight, empathy, and practical takeaways — all grounded in their decades of experience in radio journalism.
Episodes of The Motherload are released every Friday morning and are available wherever you stream your podcasts.
