Matty’s new Sydney radio job revealed

Reporter

Matty Harrison is heading to Triple M Sydney, confirming to Radio Today he’ll be taking up an Announcer/Ops role and working with The Rush Hour NSW.

Matty will finish up with NEW FM’s breakfast show The NOVOS on Friday week, May 6, before embarking on his new adventure.

After four years on air in Newcastle with The NOVOS, Harrison this week announced his departure, telling listeners his new job combines two life goals: making it to the huge market that is Sydney radio, and making it back home.

Harrison – whose radio career to date spans from Darwin to Jindabyne – seized the opportunity when it arose, but says it’s incredibly sad to leave.

“I have just loved every minute of this job. We’ve done some pretty incredible things on this show, like the work we’ve done on mental health. I’m really proud of that. We’ve helped families. That’s the real life stuff that stays with you.”

“This is a big dream come true for me. I’ve loved radio since I was a little kid. For me to have this opportunity to work for this station – which is a huge station in Sydney – I’m so happy.”

“Thank you to NEW FM for giving me a platform to live out my dreams.”

Honour to work with this legend, and just know he’ll take Sydney by absolute storm.

Easily one of the best in the business – so proud!

What’s the new gig?
(Can Radio Today please ask these simple follow up questions each time instead of just copy and pasting the release?)

So it might not be Kiis , seeing that station hasn’t been around all that long.

I’ve asked New Fm numerous times , why the station doesn’t stream online , and it falls on deaf ears , i feel that the station could increase their listeners 🙂 if it did stream online maybe it’s a cost thing. they use to stream the novos of a morning via facebook , which was always good to watch, i do tune into the podcast because i too live in Sydney.

Meg is doing a great job! i use to do a show many years ago (way before meg) on CHR FM (Cessnock Community Radio)

To answer your question…

BOG turned streaming off nationwide when CRA and PPCA went head to head and it looked like the music industry were going to hit the industry as though streaming was a different broadcast instead of an extension of the broadcast they had already paid royalties on.

It has never been turned back on.
