New breakfast show coming

Staff Writer

Adam Boland, the man who changed breakfast television's model by basing Sunrise on the breakfast radio format, has revealed the key program as part of the new Network TEN morning schedule.

'Wake Up' is a more youthful proposition in the breakfast TV landscape and is hoping to compete more successfully than TEN's previous attempt with Paul Henry and Kath Robinson.

Boland (pictured centre) said: "I have very realistic (ratings) expectations. Sunrise was a two-year build. This (Wake Up) will take some time – it is a brick by brick proposition."

The show will see hosts Natarsha Belling, Natasha Exelby and James Mathison broadcast from a Manly beach house. "This show will never go near a studio," says Boland. "It's an ambitious project, but one guaranteed to be fun."

"Chemistry is everything in breakfast. We screen-tested plenty of combinations, but these guys had an instant dynamic."

"They can talk about anything and, trust me, with this format they will."
