Adelaide community radio station Fresh 92.7 has announced the appointment of its new Chair, George Fiacchi.

A true South Australian champion, Fiacchi is a seven-time Port Adelaide Magpies premiership player and leading Australian business and media consultant.

George was the General Manager for Mix102.3 and Cruise1323 and oversaw their growth as the first ARN owned stations to become No 1 in ratings and No 1 in commercial sales.

He has also served across a collection of South Australia’s more prominent boards, including at the Port Adelaide Football Club.

George says “I’m excited for the opportunity to be the Chair of Fresh92.7. After 13 years managing the team at the Australian Radio Network, radio gets in your blood. I love the passion, the listeners, the clients, the team and the dynamic environment that is unique to radio.”

“I have been getting my radio fix working with the Fresh team for the past 3 years. I’ve seen first-hand the great work they do developing Adelaide’s youth talent and focusing on the local community. I’m looking forward to working with the board to continue the great work that Fresh is performing on and off air and using my knowledge to help guide the fantastic youth talent at the station.”

Fresh 92.7’s Executive Manager Darren Pike says the station is excited to welcome George to the team.

“He comes to us with a wealth of experience running his own companies and heading up ARN locally for nearly 10 years at one of its most successful periods.”

“With his passion and dedication to community radio and Fresh in particular over the past 3 years, he will be a very valued Chairperson to our organisation for the future.

“We also thank outgoing Chair Jessie Mattner for her support, in particular with completing our next phase of our Strategic Plan and completion of our Licence Renewal.”

Fresh 92.7 has also announced the appointment of its new Commercial Manager, Simon Dennis.

Simon Joins Fresh 92.7 with a suite of business acumen, including as the New South Wales Group Commercial Director for Crocmedia (now Sports Entertainment Network), ARN and most recently as the General Manager Commercial & Operations of Adelaide Footy League.

two of the absolute best to lead the team.
George really demonstrated when I was at Mix 102.3 what culture, training, and leadership were all about. It wasn’t until he left and I walked back into another company in a different industry but with the same ethics and fundamentals did i realize how good he was.

Simon is a brilliant human and will be dynamic also for Fresh. A great salesman and mature thinker, Simon is a fantastic human who will help grow and develop the team even further.

Congrats on these appointments

Fresh is the most progressive community radio station in the country.

They really have given that station a soul that is unique and uplifting.

Commercial radio should take note and not dismiss what they do.

How does a “community” radio station put out the amount of advertising on billboards and at bus stops around town recently?
