Ned & Josh quietly axed from Canberra’s Hit 104.7

As it turns out, in Canberra there was more than just a fireworks announcement last week.
On Friday Ned Breward and Josh Torney did their breakfast show on Hit 104.7 as per normal. The day before both the ARN and SCA joint owned stations in Canberra, Hit and Mix 106.3, teased a big announcement. In light of their networks’ ongoing takeover discussions, the news of a resumption of Skyfire felt anticlimactic.
On Sunday Ned and Josh kept their branding together but removed any mention of Hit from their pages. This morning Hit did the same across all their socials. Ned and Josh would have celebrated six years on air together in the ACT in early December.

I feel big Qantas style vibes going on
Ned and Josh, hi so invite you guys to sign with Sen Track to partner with miles fitter and David Taggart on Sundays and Wednesdays on Track side.
How shameful from Canberra fm/ sca/ arn YET AGAIN!!! You’ve already done this before, discarding a show and not letting them leave on their own terms and you’ve done it all over again. Management should hang their heads in shame, the news sites in the capital reflect a lot of angry listeners!!
I loved these guys on air together, so did the American Ambassador, Caroline Kennedy. They were “so Canberra”. I hope there’s something big on the brew for them.
How incompetent is the management team at this radio station to bluntly axe such a popular morning show. I hope they informed potential Skyfire advertisers that Ned and Josh, after heavily promoting the return of Skyfire, wouldn’t be hosting it as they did pre-covid. I would be after a refund. Looks like it is back to SnowFM in the mornings now.
what happened to Ned & Josh …… Unbelievable!!! Absolutely no words! shocked and discussed! i will miss my morning drive with you guys
These guys need to live a real life. I never found them relatable
An SCA directive perhaps? The timing of this so close to similar axing’s across Hit NSW and QLD regional markets is telling. Should the breakfast shows on Hit VIC and Hobart be worried? WA too? How soon before the metro breakfast shows start relaying regionally (like SAFM)? Stripping even the larger regional markets (GC, Newcastle, Canberra) of their localism makes no sense.
