March 2023 podcast advertising rate averages
US website AdvertiseCast has published its March 2023 podcast ad rate averages, showing medium-sized podcasts with an average of 10,000-99,999 listeners per episode are slightly more valuable than smaller or larger audience podcasts.
This month’s data gathered from almost 3,000 podcasts shows that podcasts with between 1000-9999 listeners per episode average at $23.61 (-$0.01) cost per mille or cost per 1000 listeners for advertising, while podcasts with audiences between 1000-9999 and 100000+ cost $23.02 (+$0.22) and $19.69 (+$0.13) respectively.
These movements brought the overall average CPM podcast rate to $22.14, increasing from February’s $21.99 average.

Using the AdvertiseCast Pricing Calculator, estimates suggest an advertising campaign on a podcast with a reach of 50000 with two ad spots at the March average rate of $22.10 would cost around $2,210, depending on variables like duration.
According to RadioResults, the average CPM for a radio ad in Australia is slightly cheaper than the US podcasting average at $20 per 1000 listeners during peak time or closer to $10-$15 for off-peak hours.
