Kyle & Jackie O Vs. Veronica & Lewis

There are only so many new ideas in radio.

At the end of the day nothing is really original, as almost everything has been done by someone else before.

But we did notice this week that Veronica and Lewis of triple j’s national Drive show aired a segment that was eerily familiar to something that KIIS Sydney Breakfast duo Kyle and Jackie O had recently done.

A few weeks ago on KIIS 106.5, Kyle Sandilands issued a challenge to co-host Jackie O to write and record a hit song.

The next day Jackie O and Producer Kian came up with ‘Honey Money’, and upon its official release, the song went straight to #1 on iTunes.

This week Veronica Milsom from triple j issued a challenge to co-host Lewis Hobba to come up with a rap in just 2 hours.

He achieved the dare, airing the song on triple j Drive on Thursday.

Maybe the idea had been in the works for some time, but perhaps the triple j team were inspired by the KIIS Breakfast shows.

The only question that remains is who did it better?
