Kyle addresses Abbie Chatfield’s comments

Kyle Sandilands has addressed recent comments by Abbie Chatfield that were initially published in The Daily Telegraph, criticising his recent on-air outbursts and lack of professional repercussions. 

The situation was unpacked this morning on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, with Kyle explaining the whole scenario is a big misunderstanding, suggesting The Daily Telegraph have been trying to paint him in a bad light.

“[The Daily Telegraph] have spent the last two weeks trying to make out that I’m some sort of evil monster that hates handicapped people, that hates the gay community, that hates the trans community,” said Kyle 

“It’s a real worry that a journalist or a little bunch of journalists can go on this hate-fueled rage against me, and they ring up like, people in wheelchairs and they say, ‘Kyle Sandilands said this’ out of context.

“They don’t play any tapes, and then they just bait people into saying some sort of reaction so they can put them in the newspaper and a photo of them in the wheelchair and make out that I’m some sort of monster.”

Kyle’s response this morning follows Abbie’s explanation posted on her personal Instagram story last night, telling followers her comments were taken out of context.

Abbie said she was asked about Kyle’s comments towards KIIS staff the following day, to which she says she responded casually and not in an aggressive ranting manner, but simply sharing her opinion.

“So, I answered the question as you do in interviews, but yeah, there’s now like a narrative that I went on an aggressive rant about Kyle, which I didn’t,” said Abbie. 

“I was asked a question, and I’m not looking forward to what he’s going to say tomorrow morning on the radio show or what he’s going to do.”

“People have been DMing me like ‘F**k yeah’ and I didn’t want that to be the point of the interview.”

“… like I understand you want me to be the martyr for these issues but sometimes I just want to have a month of peace …”

Kyle put the anticipated clash to bed this morning, saying it’s “not news, it’s manufactured bullshit,” before praising Abbie, saying he admires what she does.
