John Stanley joins Paul B Kidd on 2GB Weekends

AS much as we will miss George, I think these two will fill the gap very well…Have always liked John, I sincerely hope it is a big success.

John Stanley a good choice with Paul and I like new old time slot.To take them off for sport treats followers of the Paul and John show like second class citizens.How many of the population are following all the footy codes combined? Why on earth did 2UE have to be sport as well? 2GB , 2UE , THE ABC and another station do sport ….REALLY? You can only split the audience so far?

I wonder if John and Paul will be as successful as John and Beau Ryan?

Wrong time for Paul and John!! Loved to hear them in the morning while lazing around and eating brunch! People are out and about in the afternoon.. what or who is on weekend morning? Not happy, need to hear much more of Luke Grant!!!

If I wanted channel 9 id watch it, and the shows going to end when the footy starts, but will make the most of it, weekends will never be the same.

Questions

1) What does that do to John Stanley in the evenings – Is he 7 days a week now?

2) Chris Smith will be needed in the weekday afternoons again when Deb Knights ratings come out

3)I agree – if they are going to move the afternoon show for the League in winter – maybe they should move the show over to their other network -too much sport

4) Better idea still – give up on owning Macqurie Sports Radio and sell the station to somebody who will use the licence properly . Surely their behavior has neeb a breach of Trade Practices – lessening competition
I suspect that NIne are just sitting on the licence and taking the losses to avoid
real competition – it is probly a cheaper option
5 ) Nine are not a good manager and there is not much to look forward to with Nine in
control
They cannot identify with their listeners anf are gradually undoing all the goodwill they
paid a lot for in 2GB
They have not been able to fix the Sydney Mornibg Herald – it is as bad as ever
I could go on – it is all very poor

I would prefer just listen to John Stanley, he is intelligent and interesting. Not fond of childish voices or quizzes where the host gets the answer wrong.

Will George Moore PLEASE move to 2SM in a hurry… then Alan Jones, Ben Fordham, Mark Levy, Chris Smith and Steve Price will hopefully all follow. Maybe Erin Molan and Natalie Peters too. 2GB is doomed under 9 management.

So sorry to know George has gone. I couldn’t believe it at first, thought it was fake news. I was an avid listener from day one and hardly missed a show. George is unique and will NEVER be replaced. Deb Knight is so boring. Please can we hear more of Luke Grant and Michael McLaren. Nine are ruining 2GB. I’m not fan of the girls. Saturday nights is a real turn off. Having said this Jane Marwick and Peta Credlin are fantastic. Jane should be given the night show full time. She has it all. Great listening! Congrats Jane. More please.

The music which starts the news bulletin now is disgusting . Sounds like we are listening to radio 20 years ago!
2GB is not what it used to be. I listen24/7 and I am very disappointed in the changes now made. Why change what wasn’t broken. The format worked very well.

He’s one of the very few intelligent, balanced , responsible broadcasters at 2GB

A lot of people on here saying Deb Knight is boring and bring back Luke Grant etc. That’s a shame isn’t it when announcers have common sense mainstream views they are viewed as boring and need to have controversial and outlandish opinions for higher ratings.

John Stanley is a respected legend but I also wonder if this means 7 days for him until the footy season starts.

George/John and Paul is a MORNING show.
Normally at weekends I had breakfast and carried out light duties listening to G & P……I don’t listen to the radio in the afternoons !
There is a saying “ If it ain’t broke don’t fix it “. well 2gb you are wrecking it !

Love John Stanley. Have been listening to him for years. Intelligent, interesting, informative & entertaining. Enjoyed listening to him while Alan Jones has been away. Looks like next Monday it’s back to abc breakfast as he won’t be on. Wish he was on in the morning on Sat instead of afternoons.

Morning show with George and Paul at breakfast was a pleasant way of easing into the weekend after a busy week. George’s extensive general knowledge in this world of changing times, his quick wit, common sense and relatable conversations, were appropriate to the audience demographic. Particularly in finance and the music and entertainment industry, where his input was a vital component to the vibe and success of the show. The new afternoon time slot is likely to lose a slice of the morning audience who tend to be out and about by then. 2GB what are you thinking!

paul and john don’t work at all together on weekends. John just keeps talking over paul. paul would have been better with murray. also deb knight so boring so please put chris smith or luke grant there instead.

Nine dont do much right with 2 GB and it will show in the ratings

1) Afternoon Deb Knigts ratings will be average which will put pressure on the rest of the day
2) A sports show at 6pm is a bit silly and does not seem to fit in
3) Ross Grrenwood is a hard act to follow I hope his replacement can live up to it
4) Weekends are now a total mess. They need Paul back in tjhe Morrning with Murray
5)Releage Chris Smith to afternoon – he does not suit nornings – to abrasive and to some extent boring
6) I continually ask – Is it legal to warehouse a licence (2UE) to take real competetion out of the market
Nine should dell it as they have already proven they cannot run one radio
network
I think the public are teated like idiots by theses people ( Nine management) and dont get what they deserve

Sorry 2GB. You have lost us as listeners. Although George Moore was starting to annoy us talking over Paul, we really did enjoy that whole format of the show. Can’t stand Chris Smith doing weekend mornings. Love Paul. Hope the afternoons with John Stanley is successful. Not for us.

Paul B Kidd, unfortunately for a “ writer” has the verbal skills of a very poor MCee at a wedding party.
His narration is atrocious…and his attention span equally appalling.

George Moore carried Paul B Kidd for a long time and now….. JOHN STANLEY has been delegated to hold his hand for 4 hours on “ The New” Weekend show in the afternoons…when most people are at the beach…watching Sport on TV….or generally doing things around the house.

I’m sure Paul B Kidd is a very nice guy…………… but he is to Radio, what Napoleon was to the French…….an absolute blatherer.

Without George Moore…Paul B Kidd is an Astronaut without a tether…..and that is why NO BODY IS LISTENING TO 2 GB ON THE WEEKENDS.

Not happy with Chris Smith on weekend mornings. Didn’t listen to him weekday afternoons.
John and Paul will be off all football season, which leaves me looking for a new radio station.
I hate the way radio is going these days.

John Stanley is a professional radio man, versatile and popular among listeners. Only problem is he is not George Moore. George is also a consummate radio professional whose combination with Paul B Kidd was the reason why the George and Paul Show enjoyed stellar rating for many years. I used to tune in to get my “fix” whenever I could over the years. I still listen regularly, but now it is just not the same. I believe 9 has made a terrible mistake.

I only listen to Alan Jones now. Love him or loath him he is formidable on radio. He has his finger on the pulse of current events like no other. Not many have his intellect.
I did love the George and Paul show on the weekend. I ran with them speaking in my ear. I tried the new line up and didn’t like it.
Why can’t George’s contract be renegotiated? Surely it can’t be that difficult.

March 7 2020, the “New” 2gb is boring. Michael Maclaren, Alan Jones are the only ones worth listening to now that George & Paul have been split up. Deb Knight says anything but has no opinions of her own. John Stanley’s just repeating his old 2ue breakfast schtick. Watch out Paul B. Kidd, you could end up hosting “Race around the world” like Beau, or worse still, wearing a red hanky on ya head & writing rubbish in the Sydney Moning Herald.

What a turn of fate that the top rating radio program in Sydney was axed for the sake of more football only to sour into the CoVid19 failure of the football.

Too bad so sad that the new management of the Nine GB conglomeragte don’t get it and that the fickle finger of fate came along to fornincate with their fumbling fortunes.

Saturday and Sunday mornings will never be the same without George and Paul together
