Grant Broadcasters doubles down on local at Hot 91 & Zinc 96

Former Assistant Editor
Nugget & Al, Bilko

Grant Broadcasters has increased its commitment to broadcasting local content, with changes at Hot 91 and Zinc 96 Sunshine Coast.

The network announced that Hot 91 will now host 100% local shows, made on the Sunshine Coast, from 5am-10pm Weekdays.

It’ll begin with Dave, Sam & Ash on Breakfast, before Ben Cullen hosts Workdays til 3pm.

Nugget & Al, hosts of Zinc 96 Breakfast, are jumping ship to Hot 91 for a new Drive show.

They’ll be replaced by long serving announcer Steve ‘Bilko’ Bilokin for a new Breakfast show at Zinc, while the hunt is on for a new Drive show for that station.

“Bilko has been with Zinc for 12 years and the listeners love him,” Grant Broadcasters national CD, Ryan Rathbone, said.

“It’s exciting to think that we can add to that by discovering a new local radio star and continue to provide live and local content for our audience.”

The changes at Zinc 96 come into effect on September 21, while the new lineup drops at Hot 91 on October 6.

Great first step, 2 stations out of 50 odd… I would love to see this happen in markets like Mildura and Bendigo – you’re a massive network, do you need to syndicate Neil Mitchell? Same goes for KTM or KTJ and FW running across the rest of the network.
