George Sargent joins Hit Central Queensland as Workday announcer

Radio broadcaster George Sargent has been announced as Hit Central Queensland’s new Workday announcer.

Sargent began his radio career straight out of high school after getting involved with Bathurst Broadcasters during his teenage years. Before joining Hit Central Queensland he was an announcer at the ACE Radio Network, as well as being the executive producer and co-host of the It’s All True? with Grant and Chezzi Denyer podcast.

Radio Today has asked whether Sargent will continue his podcasting duties with the Denyers when he begins his role at Hit Central Queensland from June 7.

Hit’s assistant content director for Queensland, Abi Benaud, said the network is very excited to have Sargent on board.

“With his on-air and podcasting experience, he will be a great asset,” she said.

“We can’t wait for him to start and have no doubt he will be yelling Queenslander for the State of Origin.”

Sargent was the winner of the 2019 Best Newcomer On Air – Country category at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards and a finalist for Best Sports Coverage.

His own podcast, The Convo with George Sargent, was also a finalist for Best Entertainment Podcast at this year’s Australian Podcast Awards.
