UPDATE: Listen to Doug Mulray’s interview on Triple M Sdyhey breakfast here.

Radio legend Doug Mulray will return to the Triple M Sydney airwaves on Friday (July 31).

As the iconic Sydney station celebrates its 40th year on the air, Southern Cross Austereo has confirmed Mulray will appear on Moonman in the Morning just after 7am tomorrow.

Mulray is certified Triple M royalty and an icon of Australian broadcasting. He’s not been heard on the station since the days of Andrew Denton, last appearing as a guest in the early naughties.

Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, Mulray hosted his own infamous show on the Triple M Sydney breakfast slot, a program which skyrocketed Triple M to #1 status.

Mooney paid tribute to Mulray last July when he was inducted into the Commercial Radio Australia Hall Of Fame at the 2019 radio awards, with Mooney delivering the induction speech.

Triple M’s birthday celebrations are packed into one day with appearances from some of the most-played artists and unique characters who have contributed to the station’s legacy.

Across the day another old duck of Tripe M, Rob Duckworth, will host part of the workday for one hour from 12pm, making him the only announcer to broadcast on Triple M across five decades.

During the hour, Duckworth will chat to special guests from his five decades at Triple M.

Other significant names popping in to wish Triple M Sydney a happy 40th include Mick Molloy, Fifi Box, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Barnes, Chuggy, Mal Lees (Club Veg), Jono Coleman (Jono and Dano), Richard Clapton, Mickey Robbins, Paul Holmes and Guido Hatzis.
