Digital Radio – the stats post Survey 7

CRA have announced that digital radio sales and listening figures continue to climb.

In the third quarter of this year 94,655 were sold, up 19,664 from the previous quarter. The most digital radio's sold so far was in the 4th quarter of 2011 with a total of 141,384

Now over a million digital radio's have been sold since launch in 2009.

The Nielsen stats from the Survey 7 result show….

• nearly 1.336 million people listened to digital radio in the 5 cap cities

• TSL on a digital radio is 12 hours

CRA CEO, Joan Warner said…

“Digital radio sales continue to climb despite a tough retail climate. The industry advertises digital radio on radio and it demonstrates advertising on radio works.” 

The industry recently put forward to the Federal Government a cost effective funding proposal for the rollout of digital radio to regional markets.

“Digital radio has been an outstanding success in the metropolitan markets and regional radio broadcasters are keen to offer their listeners the benefits of DAB+ digital radio," said Warner
