Colin Cameron 1936-2023

Radio veteran Colin Cameron has passed away after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. 

Colin was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) on Australia Day this year for his 58-year radio career in which he worked throughout the east of Australia. 

Born in Orange, Colin cut his teeth in the mid-west of NSW, landing his first gig in 1953 at 2MG in Mudgee after winning announcing competitions on 2UE and 2GB

Colin excelled in the industry, particularly in sales roles, landing him a sales position at 2UE early in his career alongside the likes of John LawsBob Rogers and Tony Withers

Not long after, Colin became radio manager at 4LG in Longreach at just 23, setting the trajectory for the rest of his career, which included owning stations and pioneering frequencies before retiring in 2011, aged 75.
