Chappell Roan tops triple j’s Hottest 100

The winner of triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2024 is Chappell Roan with  ‘Good Luck, Babe’  

It’s a landmark win for Roan, who had the greatest number of votes on record for a winning track in the Hottest 100. She becomes the first solo female artist to win with a debut and sole entry.

Number 2 was Sydney indie-rock duo Royel Otis with their triple j Like A Version ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, the cover which helped catapult them to worldwide acclaim, earn over 67 million streams and sell out tours all over the world.

Third place goes to Billie Eilish with ‘Birds Of A Feather’, the anthem that won the hearts of listeners across the world in 2024.

At number 4 is Lola Young with ‘Messy.’ The song ties for the most ‘f*cks’ in one of the Hottest 100 songs, alongside Doechii’s Nissan Altima.

Number 5 is Gracie Abrams‘  That’s So True.

Countdown highlights:

• 2,489,446 votes were submitted, up on last year’s 2.35 million

• Chappell Roan received the greatest number of votes for a winning track in Hottest 100 history

• Charli xcx and Billie Eilish simultaneously broke the record for most entries in one countdown (8 songs each)

• Billie Eilish also broke the record for most entries across countdowns (25 songs)

• Half of the songs in the countdown came from or featured non-male artists

• 148 f*cks and seven c*nts were heard in the 100 songs

triple j will count down the Hottest 200 (200 -101) on Monday 27 January from 10am.
