BOOM’s Big Birthday: Celebrating 10 years

Perth’s BOOM Radio celebrated its 10th anniversary at Badlands Bar recently, with live performances and plenty of food to celebrate the decade on air.

Willow Sage, an artist from North Metropolitan TAFE, opened the night with a performance for industry guests alongside original launch artists Angie Colmanthe Pretty Uglys, and Trent-Jean, who also performed at BOOM Radio’s rooftop launch party in 2012.

Food was in abundance with Mack Daddy’s PizzaGrill’d Sliders and an impressive grazing table, and beverages were flowing courtesy of Nowhereman Brewing Co

To top it off MJ Creations provided a BOOM Radio birthday cake in reflection of the station’s original logo design.

A reunion of sorts, BOOM radio team members from past and present came together in one place.

Hit WA Breakfast Announcer and BOOM Radio Alumni member Allan Aldworth said, “BOOM Radio holds a special place in my heart, and it was amazing to see there are a lot of former students who feel the same way. The positive impact BOOM has had on the industry in the 10 years is no accident. Happy Birthday, BOOM”.

BOOM Radio promotions coordinator Bree Smith said, “It was an absolute honour to be part of such a momentous occasion. As an original 2012 member, who returned in 2022 to reconnect with industry and refresh my skills, I’ve seen the evolution of BOOM Radio first-hand. The team should be truly proud of what they’ve accomplished over the past decade.”

“BOOM Radio plays an important role in supporting local talent, providing a launch pad for artists to grow and promote their work. I will be forever grateful to BOOM for providing me with so many wonderful opportunities. Cheers to 10 years,” said artist Trent-Jean.
